U.S. signs Protocol of Exchange of Ratification on the Treaties of Bilateral Extradition and Mutual Legal Assistance with Lithuania

almasakinMissoula, March 9 (Al-Masakin)—U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton signed Protocol of Exchange of Ratification on the Treaties of Bilateral Extradition and Mutual Legal Assistance along with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Ušackas today in Washington, D.C. the State Deartment said in a press release this afternoon.

 

“These twin agreements between the United States and Lithuania will allow police and prosecutors in both countries to employ state-of-the-art tools to cooperate more effectively to bring criminals to justice on both sides of the Atlantic,” the statement to the press said.

 

The statement went on to say that these two agreements “form part of an important network of similar agreements that the United States has reached with all the countries of the European Union.”

 

The State Department hopes to conclude 27 such agreements with all members of the EU-27

 

“The agreements represent yet another facet of the vibrant relationship the United States enjoys with Lithuania, one of our most dependable allies,” the statement concluded.
